Report - Section 4.2
4.2 Activity holidays
The UK Tourist series of surveys (UKTS) suggests that 84% of UK holidays involve participation in an activity. In this context, activities are broadly defined eg to include visits to the theatre or a museum. A Leisure Intelligence Report by Mintel, April 2000, on Sporting Activities in the Great Outdoors, (defined as sporting activities related to walking and climbing) identifies an overall trend of steady growth in these markets. A second report on Activity Days Out12 looked at organised activities taken part in while on a day out during the past 12 months (defined as something you don’t do every week). Riding featured at 2%. Table 4.2: Organised activities while on a day out during past 12 months
