1.4   Key findings/issues

• The High Weald area displays evidence of low economic performance and high environmental value.
• Agriculture is not performing well and many farms have been sold with subsequent changes in agricultural and lifestyle patterns.
• The sponsoring parties believe that additional support for the equestrian industry could make a positive contribution to the local economy, environment and community life but evidence needs to be gathered to support this view.
• Information on riding is partial and much of it is out-of-date.
• There is a new and growing interest in the sector at a national and local level.
